Intermittent Fasting For Weight Loss And More

Intermittent fasting is all the rage, people talking about it left and right.. But what the heck it is?

This is not really a fast and it is also no (technically) a diet, but rather a WAY OF EATING.

My First TEDx Talk!

A few months ago I was invited by the amazing women at Barnard College to be part of their TEDxBarnardCollege event.The video is now available on YouTube and of course I immediately wanted to share it with you all here.

My talk is part personal story, part motivational message. I poured my heart and soul into this talk, shared things that most of my closest friends didn’t know about and in the process, became stronger and wiser.

Breakfast Smoothies In 5 Minutes Or Less

I get people telling me all the time that they want to juice and blend but that they have no time. That the prep time is too long, or the clean up is a pain.

BULL CRAP! I’ve been juicing almost every day for 10+ years and blending for the last 5 or 6 and if I learned one thing during this process is that WHERE THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY!

My Beef With Milk

I have a bone to pick with milk.

And with the people that tell us that milk is great and with the celebrities making money and trying to sell you the “white stuff”.

You know the argument in favor of dairy: is good for your bones; you need calcium and vitamin D. It prevents osteoporosis. And on and on….

Well, I’m here to tell you that it isn’t.

Don’t put that stuff in your body before you know what works and what doesn’t.

5 Detox Tips Improve Your Energy (and Libido)

How’s Your Sex Life? Having as much as you can in bed?

If you are, then by all means move on, no need to keep on reading. But if you believe there is room for improvement, welcome to the club!

And what about your energy levels? Well, I guess if there is no energy, there will be very little of the aforementioned fun, right?

So you want better sex but you’re stressed out, overworked, and let’s be honest: you’re not happy about the way you look naked anyway.

Or maybe you’re one of those who just “don’t feel like it”. You’re just not that into it as you once were.

Low energy (and potentially a subsequent low libido) can happen for many reasons: stress, lack of sleep, hormonal imbalances, excess weight, etc.

This affects millions of people around the world, men and women alike.

But intimacy and sex is an important part of human nature.

So having an unfulfilled sex life can create both physical and emotional problems.

Lack of desire can also be an indication that your body may be overly toxic. Excess of toxins can lead to weight gain, adrenal fatigue and sexual dysfunction, among other more serious conditions.

So getting rid of toxins and pollutants in your body is the first step to boosting a lagging libido, getting a hot-looking body and feeling great about yourself.

Here are 5 natural detox tips to getting your energy up and getting you all sexed up:

Eliminate Refined Sugar

Refined sugar adds to your waist line, disrupts your sleep patterns, creates havoc in your hormones and makes you age quickly. Weaning yourself off sugar will lead to increase energy levels, better mood and better sex!

 

Get All Your Minerals

Making sure that you consume your daily intake of all necessary minerals will help you keep your digestion strong and your organs pushing toxins and pollutants out. Minerals are needed for hundreds of functions, including balancing your endocrine system, which regulates mood and stress; exactly what your libido needs to spike up!

 

Practice Yoga

Yoga helps you improve breathing and posture and it also allows you to bring awareness to your own body, helping you become more comfortable in your own skin. Because you stretch and compress all areas of the body, yoga stimulates the elimination systems, helping remove waste products that can be causing fatigue, disease and a less-than-desirable libido.

 

Eat Green

This is a simple tip that most people have a hard time with. Green vegetables contain high amounts of chlorophyll (the stuff that makes leaf turn green). Chlorophyll helps clean your blood of heavy metals and it is a known anti-oxidant and anti-carcinogenic. As you detox and improve your energy, your sex drive will definitely rise up (pun intended!)

 

Eat Maca Everyday

Maca is a root originally from the mountains of Peru. It is a complete protein and has lots of additional nutrients as well. Maca can help enhance your immune system, balance your hormones and reduces anxiety. Maca is a natural aphrodisiac and increases libido.

While the above tips will help, most people may need to cleanse and detox their bodies of toxins at a deeper level before they can really see long-lasting results. These tips will, however be a good starting point.

Ayurveda 101 With Nadya Andreeva

Ayurveda is an ancient practice that literally means “Science of Life”. It has been practiced in India for thousands of years and it is becoming increasingly popular in the western world as people move towards finding alternative treatments to compliment western science and prevent diseases.

I have always been very curious about the benefits of Ayurveda, Ayurvedic body types, Ayurvedic products and its wonderful uses.

So I asked my fellow health coach and friend Nadya Andreeva, a self-described modern Ayurveda girl, to come to my aid and help answer my (and probably your) basic Ayurveda questions here.
